Lani Ramos, lead singer of her band, Big Pearl, moved to New Orleans, Louisiana from Los Angeles, CA in August 2000 to establish herself as an entertainer. A member of the Musician’s Union and Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Ramos has a Mezzo-Saprano vocal range and is a writer of her own songs, co-writes and has the knack of arranging another artist’s songs for back-up vocal parts or in a musical work. Her credits include duet/back-ups with Dave Sharp of The Alarm, Rudy Mills Caribbean Funk and with back-up vocals on CD releases Johnny J & The Hitmen, Big Chief Alfred Doucette, Mike Hood and Billy Ding & The Hot Wings. Band credits include opening up for New Orleans notable acts like Earl King, Kermit Ruffins, Bonerama and Frankie Ford and, as a back-up vocalist, Frankie Ford at Tipitina’s, James Andrews & the Crescent City All-Stars and Chili Groove with the Southern University of New Orleans Orchestra (SUNO) at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festivals. Ramos has been invited into various private homes and enjoyed living room sing-a-longs with the great Fats Domino, Father Jerome LeDoux and Dr. John. Since 2000, Ramos has performed on Bourbon Street at various music clubs that include the Tree Cou House, Funky Pirate, Tropical Isle, Snooks Bar, Krazy Korner, The Old Opera House, Howl At The Moon, The Red Rhino and My Bar. In 2001 her first single on compilation, Arms of Heaven, a benefit CD release for victims of 9/11, was reviewed in Offbeat Magazine as the quintessential song illustrating feelings over questionable tragedy. Through the years Ramos has performed regularly on Frenchmen Street music venues Checkpoint Charlie’s, Hookah Café, Blue Nile, Café Brazil, Apple Barrel, Ray’s Boom Boom Room, Café Negril, Bicycle Michael’s, d.b.a., Lazziza’s and The John. Off Shoot venues include Acadian Beer Garden, Wit’s Inn, Howlin Wolf, Silky O’Sullivan’s, Kim’s 940, Bada Bing’s, Gennifer Flowers Kelsto Club, Melvin’s, The Hard Rock Café Dead Rockers Brunch, Tipitina’s, The Deck Bar, Kajun’s Pub, Bud Rip’s Bar, Turtle Bay and The Maple Leaf.  A career highlight was an invitation to perform the Janis Joplin segment at the 17^th Annual Janis Joplin Birthday Bash & Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame 2004 awards show in Port Arthur, TX where she made television appearances, sold out of her self-titled CD debut, Scoot Boogie Baby’s, Lani Ramos and consequently got amazing write-ups in the Beaumont Journal. Returning to New Orleans, Ramos’ original CD received wonderful accolades online and put in rotation on New Orleans public radio station, WWOZ 90.7 FM. From there with more write-ups ensued from Biz Magazine, Louisiana Music Commission, and www.louisianamusic.org, Ramos joined a newly formed horn band opening regularly for Kermit Ruffins on Saturdays and headlining their own gig Tuesdays at The Blue Nile. Mondays at the Apple Barrel, Ramos tried out a different type of band doing old time country blues and had it all going on until Katrina. Meanwhile in San Francisco, Ramos landed regular gigs at famed music venue, Biscuits & Blues, with more write-ups from the Modesto Bee Newspaper and the San Francisco Examiner. In the SFE Ramos is pictured between mayor Gavin Newsom and governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in page 5’s ‘Who’s In Town Today’ advertising her gigs in the city as a bluesy New Orleans singer.

Back in NOLA over Mardi Gras 2006, Ramos reunited with guitarist Michael Wheat of the horn band, and went on with to co-write with Wheat 10 new original tunes. Ramos produced the new Big Pearl album Double Faces. The concept album represents New Orleans rock & roll with some tunes carrying horns and organ and other tunes holding down pop and rock blues. Almost 4 years in production the album is just released through Flying Colors out of Los Angeles and sold through CD Baby & on Ramos’ official web site. Currently, Big Pearl performs original singles, like, Shake That Junk, In The N.O. and My New Boyfriend at the Apple Barrel and the BMC. The band’s Music Video “Shake That Junk” can be seen on YouTube, and Ramos’ New Orleans Access Television Show (NOA-TV) “Yeah You Right”, Channel 99 Cox Communications, Thursdays weekly at 1:30pm.
